Meet Scott Dean - Operations Manager
Today on the blog we are introducing our Operations Manager, Scott Dean. Around the shop, we call Scott the glue that keeps Hilltop together. Scott joined Hilltop in 2015 as an installer and worked his way up to managing the whole shop!
A one-minute overview
Scott was born in Leonardtown, Maryland and graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1993. He has worked many different jobs throughout his career including the assembly line at General Motors in Baltimore. Scott and his wife Hillary have four boys, one of them is an installer for Hilltop! He enjoys watching hockey, going to church and spending time with his kids.
What keeps you excited about being at Hilltop every day?
Every day is different, you never know what your day is going to look like. I also like working with a young business owner and helping him build his dream.
What is one of your favorite jobs you have worked on? Why?
This may sound weird, but one of my favorite jobs was installing the signs at the Holiday Inn in California, MD. At that time, we had never tackled a job that big and that high up before. I think that this job showed us that we were capable to accomplish much more and was that start to the big jobs we complete today. I also liked watching Mike get scared in the 100 foot lift.
What is your favorite type of sign to work with? Why?
My favorite type of sign is halo-lit channel letters. I like them because they are challenging to install and look very cool when you’re done.
Favorite work snack?
Combos! Specifically, the Cheddar Cheese Pretzels
How do you take your coffee?
Mocha with cream, sugar and EXTRA whipped cream
What is something you wish you did more of? Why?
I wish I wrapped vehicles more often. I don’t do it that often, but I would like to get better at it.
