Spotlight Series - The Slice House

Welcome to The Slice House, not just another pizza place. Ken, Maegyne and their son John recently opened The Slice House located in the Town of Leonardtown. The family owned restaurant currently has 15 employees and sells a wide variety of pizza, salads, cold sandwiches, beer and specialty drinks.

Hilltop Signs and Graphics had the pleasure of designing the logo for The Slice House, custom fabricating their storefront sign and installing window graphics.

We sat down with Ken to talk about The Slice House since they opened at the beginning of last month.

Why did you open The Slice House?

The concept of independent pizza slices is underserved in the area. Ken and his family originally thought about opening up a Deli, but when they realized how much the area lacked New York style pizza, The Slice House was born.

How did you get started?

Ken talked about how he brain stormed a lot with his family. They talked about the concept of pizza by the slice and came up with recipes before starting the business. Ken is a native New Yorker, so we know we can trust that he knows exactly what type of pizza we want.

Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?

“That’s a hard question!” Whole pizzas might be in the future for The Slice House. If they were to expand at their location, they would have more room, which means more pizza!

What is your personal favorite type of pizza?

Ken likes to keep it simple with a classic slice of cheese. He added that he likes it hot or cold!

What have you enjoyed the most since opening The Slice House?

The welcoming of the community and the excitement from customers. The support of the community is always important when opening up a new business, and we are very appreciative of the kind words and energy we see from customers.

During our talk Ken mentioned how important it is to recognize Leonardtown as the vibrant market it is. The Slice House is one of the many local businesses that contribute to the atmosphere of Leonardtown Square. If you haven’t taken the time to visit the Town of Leonardtown, you’re missing out!

The sign that we built for The Slice House is one of our favorites! The double-sided blade sign is fabricated out of two panels of routed di-bond and dimensional PVC letters. The sign panels are mounted to a custom bracket designed just for their sign. The bracket was welded from 1- and 2-inch aluminum square tubing with a ¼ inch aluminum backer, all finished with a high-gloss black paint job. What we loved so much about this sign project is that we were able to help The Slice House from logo concepts to installation.

We wish The Slice House the very best and look forward to enjoying many slices of pizza.
